Your wedding photographs and DVD should last a lifetime and be viewed again and again. So make sure you get the look you’re after.
Choosing Your Photographer
Recommendation is best. Take a look at the photo albums of married friends and family to find the style you are looking for and the photographer to capture it. Remember, different photographers have different styles. Some will be more comfortable with providing a straightforward record of the day while others will be more stylised, drawing on colours, monochrome, soft focus and reportage-style shots. You will have an idea of what you want so make sure you choose a photographer who you feel understands your needs. Always ask to see a selection of albums, portfolios and films before making any decisions.

When you meet prospective photographers bear in mind the following questions.
• How many pictures will be taken in total and how many you can choose for your album?
• Ask for a list of all related costs such as travel, refreshment, etc.
• When will you receive the album and DVD?
• Can you keep the negatives? If not, is there an option to buy them and the copyright?
• Is the photographer familiar with the venue? If not will they visit it before the wedding?
• Do they have public liability insurance?
• What if they cancel on the day?
• What equipment will they be bringing?

Top Tips
• Don’t ask a family member to take your photos or film. It is unlikely they will be professionally trained or fully focused. Remember the old adage; you get what you pay for.
• Don’t get upset if the photographic crew seem a tad demanding! To get the images you require they need to be close to the action. They know what it takes to get the best results.
• You will be involved in family photos during the reception. Make sure the best man arranges food and drink at the shoot.
